DC visits border villages, reviews VVP projects

Tirap Deputy Commissioner Badonlum Tawsik on Thursday visited remote Indo-Myanmar border villages under Lazu administrative circle and reviewed developmental works under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) and assessed the condition of critical road infrastructure connecting the border region.

The deputy commissioner, accompanied by government officials, gaon buras and panchayat leaders, inspected the vulnerable Pongkong block point on the Khonsa-Lazu road and reviewed the progress of the proposed diversion road from Sanliam village.

During his visit, PWD officials briefed the DC on the proposed road alignment, survey findings and the ongoing jungle clearance required for the diversion. The DC also inspected the landslide-prone Pongkong stretch, where recurring road blockages frequently disrupt connectivity to the interior border villages.
